When your opponent is hurt or running low on stamina from Ground and Pound, transitions and submissions become available. Knowing how to access them, and which control scheme you&#39;re using, is essential to finishing from top position.

- Transitions and submissions open up when your opponent is hurt or their stamina is low. Watch for the opportunity window
- With Grapple Assist or Hybrid HUD, use Right Bumper + Left Stick Left for submissions or Right Bumper + Left Stick Right for transitions
- Legacy Grapple HUD uses Right Bumper + Right Stick in various directions. The specific direction depends on your current position
- Transitions move you to a new dominant position; submissions directly attempt a choke or joint lock to end the fight
- Don&#39;t overcommit to a submission if your opponent has enough stamina to defend. A failed attempt can reverse the momentum

Transitions and submissions are the finishing tools of Ground and Pound. Land enough strikes to drain stamina and Grapple Advantage, then look for the submission when the window opens. Patience on the ground is rewarded, don&#39;t rush the finish before it&#39;s there.

Securing top position is only the start, getting into the right posture to throw effective strikes is the next step. Whether you&#39;re using Grapple Assist or Legacy controls, the path to Ground and Pound position is clear and quick.

- From top control with Grapple Assist, tap Left Stick Right to move toward Postured Up Ground and Pound position
- With Hybrid or Legacy Grapple HUD active, tap Right Stick Up from top position to reach Ground and Pound posture
- Ground and Pound position gives you the posture and angles needed to land effective strikes on a grounded opponent
- Timing your transition to Postured Up while your opponent has low stamina or Grapple Advantage in your favour improves success
- Once in position, mix head and body strikes to maximise damage and make your opponent&#39;s defense harder to maintain

- Grapple Assist: Left Stick Right (from top control)
- Legacy / Hybrid HUD: Right Stick Up (from top control)

## Key Tips

Getting into Ground and Pound position quickly is about timing the transition when your opponent is least able to resist. Land a few body strikes first to drain their stamina and Grapple Advantage, then move to Postured Up to start the real damage.

Knowing how to get back to your feet from top position is just as important as knowing how to put someone down. Whether you&#39;re choosing to reset the fight or the situation demands it, UFC 6 gives you clear inputs to exit ground control and return to stand-up.

- From top Ground and Pound position, input the getup to exit ground control and return both fighters to standing
- Getups work best when your Grapple Advantage is high. Attempting to stand when the opponent has advantage risks being pulled back down
- Use getups strategically: if your stand-up game is stronger than your ground game, returning to the feet is a valid tactic
- Getups can be defended. The opponent on the bottom can attempt to hold you down if their Grapple Advantage allows
- Stamina management matters for getups. Low stamina makes it harder to complete the stand against a resisting opponent

Getups are a tactical decision, not just a mechanical one. Choose when to stand based on whether your ground game is working and whether your Grapple Advantage supports the attempt. A well-timed getup resets the fight to your preferred range, a poorly timed one loses position.
