Hooks from top position can&#39;t be dodged the same way as straights, but they can be posted. Posting a hook properly nullifies the damage entirely and penalises your opponent&#39;s stamina, turning a dangerous attack into a wasted effort on their part.

- Hooks from Ground and Pound cannot be slipped sideways. They require a posting response rather than an evasion
- To post a hook, use L1 (PS) / LB (Xbox) + Right Stick in the direction of the incoming hook. Move toward the hook to post it
- A successful post completely nullifies hook damage and costs your opponent stamina. It&#39;s a full counter to the hook
- Posting requires reading the incoming hook direction correctly. A wrong-direction post won&#39;t prevent the damage
- Use evasion for straights and posting for hooks. The two techniques pair together to cover Ground and Pound&#39;s main attack options

- Post Hook: L1 + Right Stick Left or Right (toward the incoming hook)

## Key Tips

Posting hooks is the counterpart to slipping straights, together they make you a difficult bottom-position fighter to damage. Nullifying hooks with a clean post penalises your opponent every time they throw one, turning their hook offense into a costly mistake.

Evading straights from the bottom of Ground and Pound is more than just surviving, precise evasion drains your opponent&#39;s stamina and opens counter opportunities. Learning to slip Ground and Pound straights is a key skill for bottom-position fighters.

- Flick Right Stick Left or Right to evade straight punches from Ground and Pound. Timing the movement correctly makes the punch miss cleanly
- Precise timing on the slip also drains your opponent&#39;s stamina. Missed punches cost them energy
- Swaying toward a hook (when slipping) increases damage taken; sway away from it to reduce damage. Directional awareness matters
- Use L1 (PS) / LB (Xbox) + Right Stick Left or Right to post hooks after evading. This counters incoming hooks while you&#39;re on the bottom
- Evasion on the ground follows similar principles to stand-up head movement. Read the direction and time the slip cleanly

## Key Tips

Slipping Ground and Pound straights is one of the most satisfying skills to develop in UFC 6. Land the timing correctly and you not only avoid damage, you drain your opponent and set up your counter. It turns a defensive position into an active one.

Being on the bottom of Ground and Pound is a survival exercise in UFC 6. Blocking effectively reduces damage and buys you time to build Grapple Advantage and find your escape, but it&#39;s not a strategy, it&#39;s a temporary measure.

- Hold R2 (PS) / RT (Xbox) to block head strikes while on the bottom. The most common target from top position
- Hold R2+L2 (PS) / RT+LT (Xbox) to block body strikes. Switch between head and body defense based on your opponent&#39;s targeting patterns
- Blocked ground strikes still deal reduced damage. Blocking buys time, but your block meter depletes and damage bleeds through eventually
- While blocking, focus on building Grapple Advantage through any available means. You need to shift the bar to escape
- Don&#39;t block indefinitely. Use the block window to reset your position and find the transition or getup escape you need

## Key Tips

Blocking ground and pound is defensive triage, it keeps you in the fight while you find your escape route. Don&#39;t try to survive on blocks alone; use the protection to build Grapple Advantage and look for the transition or getup that gets you out of danger.
