Denial Timing isn&#39;t just about whether you stop the takedown, it determines what happens next. A fast denial after the attempt begins puts you in a dominant clinch position. A late denial, where the input comes after the window, triggers a Takedown Drive, where the attacker can change direction and continue the attempt. The outcome swings dramatically based on how quickly you react.

- Fast Denial: executing R2+L2 (PS) / RT+LT (Xbox) quickly after the takedown attempt places the defender in a dominant clinch position
- Late Denial: a slow or delayed input triggers a Takedown Drive. The attacker can change direction with the Left Stick to continue pressing the attempt
- During a Takedown Drive, match the attacker&#39;s direction with your Left Stick while holding R2+L2 / RT+LT to stop the drive and regain control
- Consistently fast denials shut down the takedown entirely and give you positional control. Late denials extend the scramble into a more dangerous situation
- The timing window is tight. Building the habit of pressing the denial input the moment you recognize the shot is more reliable than reacting once the animation begins

Denial Timing is what separates clean takedown defense from extended scrambles. The goal is always a fast denial, input the defense the moment you recognise the shot, and you deny the takedown cleanly while gaining positional control. If you&#39;re caught in a Takedown Drive, stay calm, read the attacker&#39;s direction, and track it with your Left Stick. The faster and earlier your denial, the less likely you&#39;ll find yourself in a Drive situation.

Judo Reversals are one of the most decisive counters to takedowns in UFC 6, using the attacker&#39;s forward pressure against them to flip control instantly. The timing is extremely tight, but when executed correctly, a Judo Reversal turns the opponent&#39;s aggression into a takedown for you rather than them. Miss the window and it defaults to a standard denial, so the attempt is never completely wasted.

- Judo Reversals use the attacker&#39;s forward pressure to flip positional control instantly. A successful reversal puts the attacker on the ground rather than the defender
- Hold R1+L2+R2 (PS) / RB+LT+RT (Xbox) to attempt a Judo Reversal when a takedown attempt begins

- Not all fighters have Judo Reversals in their moveset. If your fighter doesn&#39;t, the input defaults to a standard denial automatically
- Judo Reversals are highest impact when timed precisely. They instantly flip control, creating a takedown of your own and delivering a significant momentum shift

Like Judo Reversals, the timing window is very small, and a late input defaults to a standard denial, meaning the risk of attempting it is limited.

- Submission Reversals convert a takedown attempt directly into a submission entry. The attacker&#39;s shot becomes a submission opportunity for the defender
- Hold L1+L2+R2 (PS) / LB+LT+RT (Xbox) to attempt a Submission Reversal when a takedown attempt begins
- The timing window is very small. A late input defaults to a standard denial rather than leaving you exposed
- Not all fighters have Submission Reversals available. If your fighter lacks this technique, the system defaults to a standard denial instead
- Submission Reversals are highest value against opponents who shoot repeatedly. Denying a takedown and entering a submission in the same movement shuts down their gameplan immediately
