Ahh, summer love. What could be better? Walking hand in hand on a seaside pier, eating frozen yogurt together, and picking sand out from… the pages of a new book.

Between the Lines: Seaside Swoon opens the first chapter of a brand-new romantasy-inspired season for The Sims FreePlay. Across three updates, Bella and Mortimer are swept into a series of stories shaped by Mortimer’s imagination, beginning in a seaside corner of your SimTown. 

Mortimer has always had quite the imagination and a flair for the dramatic. But when he discovers a magical book that brings his stories to life, his latest romance, inspired by Bella, becomes more than just words on a page. 

Play through a summer love story filled with first crushes, beachside adventures, boardwalk dates, prom-night promises, and long summer nights. Then bring the story home with new outfits, a Home Lot, and seaside-inspired items designed to capture the magic of summer romance. 

Join Bella and Mortimer as they discover that some stories are simply too good to stay between the covers.

Summer Sweet Treat

We’re kicking off the next update with Summer Sweet Treat, a two-week in-game celebration running from July 14 to July 29 that brings a little extra sunshine to your SimTown.

Over the two weeks, Simmers can claim daily Inbox gifts, open the new Sundae Funda Box, take part in a community challenge to help complete their own frozen yogurt shop, unlock a range of swimwear in a brand-new Influence Island event, and join the summer festivities at the Community Market, where seasonal decorations, froyo-themed touches, and familiar faces help bring the celebration to life. 

Now, who hasn’t dreamed of opening their own frozen yogurt shop? Check in each day during Summer Sweet Treat for Inbox gifts, including shop pieces, summer décor, swimwear, Mystery Box Keys, and other surprises. Then open the new Sundae Funday Box for more frozen yogurt shop rewards, from colorful decorations and frozen treats to the finishing touches that help transform your build into a sweet summer hangout for your Sims.

The SimTown community can also work together to unlock more frozen yogurt shop rewards for everyone. From July 14 to July 29, Simmers will need to complete 4 million Daily Tasks across the community to reach the shared goal. You’ll receive community updates throughout the event, so keep checking in to see how everyone is tracking and help make Summer Sweet Treat the talk of the town. If the community reaches the goal, you’ll see the final items in your Inbox on July 28.

Summer Sweet Treat also includes Serves Up!, a brand-new Influence Island event made especially for the celebration. Help keep the peace outside SimTown's newest frozen yogurt stand and unlock sunny new swimwear for Toddlers, Teens, Adults, Seniors, and even pregnant Sims. Plus, keep checking in throughout Summer Sweet Treat for additional summer fashion rewards delivered straight to your Inbox.  Whether your Sims are heading to the pool, relaxing by the shore, or soaking up the sunshine, there’s a summer look for everyone.

You’ll also spot a Summer Sweet Treat pop-up at the Community Market, with summer decorations, froyo-inspired touches, and familiar faces dressed for warmer weather.

Flythrough Camera

The TSFP team loves building homes for our Sims and, yes, showing them off to each other.

But what we love even more is seeing what this amazing community creates: the clever layouts, unexpected combinations, beautiful details, and funny nods to pop culture that can only come from millions of creative players around the world.

That’s why we wanted to make it easier to share a closer look at the homes you have created.

The new Flythrough Camera lets you step inside your Sims’ homes from an entirely new perspective. Once selected, the camera automatically moves through the home, choosing dynamic paths and angles that show off the rooms, layouts, details, and design choices that make every build feel unique. If your Sims are in the house, they can also appear in the automated video as the camera moves through the space.

Whether you’re revisiting a favorite home, sharing your latest build, or looking for inspiration before you start something new, the Flythrough Camera gives you a new way to capture and celebrate what you create in your SimTown. And if you'd like to share your Flythrough with friends or fellow builders, you can use your device's built-in screen recording feature to capture and share the experience. 

You can start a Flythrough in two ways:

Select the Flythrough Camera button in the Pause menu on any house lot (right next to the Screenshot button).

Select the Preview button when browsing homes to launch a Flythrough. You can replay the Flythrough again from the House Preview screen.

We can't wait to see SimTown from a whole new perspective.

SimChase: Seaside Stay

Chapter 1: Seaside Stay

Bella has woken up in a seaside vacation home. It feels oddly familiar yet new. Sunlight pours through the windows, and the ocean laps at the shore just out the window. Why, it feels like the perfect setting for a high school sweetheart summer romance. But what’s she doing here?

Race through this SimChase as Bella explores the house.  Unlock a stunning vacation retreat inspired by coastal architecture, complete with hammocks, a greenhouse, and bay windows made for lovelorn daydreams. 

SimChase: Hot Fries & High Tides

Chapter 2: Hot Fries & High Tides

With your Sims' help, Bella finds a letter addressed to her, an invitation from a secret admirer. But much like a hot chip snatched from a seaside picnic, an opportunistic seagull swoops in to steal the letter. Chase down the seagull and beat the other beachgoers searching for their similarly swooped items for a chance to continue the story.   

Follow Bella's trail across the shoreline and unlock scenic lookout spots, swaying palms, a lifeguard tower, a beach volleyball court, and a special ‘Play with seagull action.’ Everything you need for a perfect day at the beach. Now, if you could just eat your hot chips in peace! 

Craft Challenge: Pierside Promises

Chapter 3: Pierside Promises

Letter successfully reclaimed, Bella follows the invitation's instructions and arrives at the pier to discover the teen-dream version of her beloved Mortimer, swept up in their summer love story. 

Help make this the perfect spot for summer-time Sims romance. Build a lively waterfront destination complete with boardwalk attractions, seaside storefronts, and waterfront hangouts inspired by long summer evenings, first dates, and the excitement of finding your way to someone special. 

SimChase: A Night To Remember

Chapter 4: A Night To Remember

Mortimer's story has finally reached its final chapter: prom night.

With decorations up, the music playing, and every eye on the dancefloor, the stage is set for a night neither Bella nor Mortimer will ever forget.

Create the ultimate high school celebration with dancefloor actions, decorations, instruments, and special prom outfits worthy of the cover of a well-loved summer romance.

Influence Island: Captivating Coast

Bring the coastline home with a collection inspired by breezy beach houses and relaxed seaside living. Unlock weathered coastal furnishings, a beachside BBQ area, and even a new Toddler outfit perfect for long summer days by the water. 

Craft Challenge: Spice of Italy

Transport your Sims to the Italian countryside with Mediterranean-inspired architecture, lush greenery, and rustic details. Complete the event to unlock the beautiful Italia Villa, complete with charming staircases, decorative planters, and sun-drenched outdoor spaces.
